OUR ESTATE

We are natives of San Gimignano and have always lived in this cradle of art and nature.

Our love of the fruits of the earth has been handed down over the generations in our family, and it was our grandfather Luano who expanded the family farm, planting vineyards and olive groves. Our dream is to continue living and working in this beautiful place, offering you the products of our land and our refined hospitality, available in a number of forms in our agriturismo, for a holiday immersed in our concept of “good living”.

The winery

The winery in its present form was built in 2003, and has been expanded and modified since then to respond to the needs of the business. It is a modern winery employing all the latest oenological technologies for top quality production, and is constantly being upgraded. Our beautiful barrel cellar contains more than 100 barriques, 10 tonneaux and 5 big barrels, visible to our visitors adjacent to the winery shop.

The vineyards

Palagetto has properties in various parts of the San Gimignano area, planted primarily with grapevines and olive trees.
Approximately 42 of the estate’s 62 hectares are planted with vineyards, including Sangiovese, Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Merlot, Cabernet, Syrah, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, while 13 hectares are planted with olive groves, numbering more than 3000 trees, producing our Palagetto extra virgin olive oil and our two monovarietal selections, Frantoio and Correggiolo.

The olive press

Next to the winery is our olive press, producing our own cold-pressed olive oil. We decided to invest in our own press so we could be independent right from the start, purchasing the olive press in the ’90s so we could work on our own and have complete control over the quality of the finished product. Ours is one of only a handful of olive presses in the San Gimignano area, and we also press olives belonging to small farmers and individuals who make their own oil. If you would like to see the olive press in action, come visit in October or November, when it is open for pressing.

Local Produce

We’re always on the lookout for new partnerships reflecting Palagetto’s key values.
Respect for nature, love of the land and dedication to the local area have always been the pillars of our work.
Over the years, we have decided to offer other products alongside our own, made by local enterprises we work with.
Honey made by Paolo of Esagono di Afrodite, who offers a vast selection of honeys and organic products to enjoy while sampling our wines.
San Gimignano Saffron, a DOP product we are particularly proud of.
Our creativity never stops, and we’re open to exciting new partnerships to promote the products of our land.
